BSN is committed to achieving equality of access, retention and promotion of aspiring and existing black solicitors within the sector. This mission is pursued through its many initiatives and programmes, a significant one being its Careers Workshops. BSN has developed and regularly hosts, in conjunction with leading firms and corporates (including the BBC, Jones Day, Hogan Lovells), interactive Career Workshops for undergraduate and graduate BSN members which provide insights into the recruitment process and tailored advice on applying for training contracts, with measurable success.

Our Career Workshops are varied in size usually accommodating between 30 and 50 students and are open to, and held for the benefit of, BSN undergraduate and graduate members, who will be notified in advance. Applicants to the event are required to submit a recent CV and are notified by email whether or not they have been allocated a place for the event.

Details of each BSN Careers Workshop will also appear on this website and various social media platforms. If you have any queries regarding this programme, please contact: events@blacksolicitorsnetwork.org

BSN is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on volunteers to drive its mission and objectives forward. If you are a trainee solicitor or qualified lawyer and would like to support BSN in assisting with our Career Workshops by providing guidance and advice on the recruitment, application and training process, please contact: events@blacksolicitorsnetwork.org

In addition to our Career Workshops, BSN hosts related events, in association with law firms and other industry bodies, for undergraduate and graduate members which provide a forum for discussions with established and reputed lawyers and trainee solicitors about their career experiences and opportunities. Details of these events will appear on this website.

BSN also advocates on behalf of BME solicitors and aspiring lawyers. This includes responding to consultations and seeking views through our focus groups. If you would like to participate in these initiatives please contact enquiries@blacksolicitorsnetwork.org
